Lander Running Club Pie Mile

Join us for a Pie Mile at the LVHS track on Saturday, November 20.

Why? Because we are close to Thanksgiving, and what is better than combining pie with running!?

What is a Pie Mile? Well, it is like the Beer Mile, but with pie.

This event is open to all ages and abilities. Here is how it will work.

1. Show up at Noon with four slices of your own pie. All pies are welcome - pumpkin, chocolate cream, pecan, key lime, anything goes. If you want four small slivers of pie, go for it. Want four giant slices on your place? Go for it. Make it work for you. (If you really, really don't like pie - bring four pieces of your own food of choice and hop in on the fun.) Please bring your own non-disposable plate/fork/napkin, or pack out your trash.

2. Then, at 12:10 the event will begin, so start your timer! Eat your first slice of pie, run (or walk, or jog) a lap. Eat one slice of pie, run a lap. Eat one slice of pie, run a lap. Eat your last slice of pie, run a lap. Timer stops. During that time, we hope for some good laughs and conversation. And, hopefully no one loses their pie....!!!

3. This is meant to be a fun event, but if you want to be competitive, that is ok. At 12:40, the adult and youth winner will get a pie in the face. The pie mile participants will pick who gets to throw the pie at the lucky winner.

Lander Pie Mile

Lander Pie Mile

Join us for a Pie Mile at the LVHS track on Saturday, November 21.

Why? Because we are close to Thanksgiving, and what is better than combining pie with running!?

What is a Pie Mile? Well, it is like the Beer Mile, but with pie.

This event is open to all ages and abilities. Please read all of the rules. Here is how it will work.

1. Show up at Noon with enough pie for you and/or your family. Due to COVID, we won’t be sharing pie with all participants. You’ll need four slices per runner. All pies are welcome - pumpkin, chocolate cream, pecan, key lime, anything goes.

2. Everyone needs to bring their own plate, fork, and pie scoop. Let's cut down on waste and bring a real plate and fork. You might want to bring some napkins. You’ll be responsible for cleaning up your pie zone and packing out any trash/waste.

3. Then, everyone will scoop up four slices of pie from on their plate. If you want four small slivers of pie, go for it. If you want four giant slices on your plate, that is good too. Make it work for you. (If you really, really don't like pie - bring four pieces of your own special food of choice and hop in on the fun.)

4. Then, at 12:20, start your timer! Eat your first slice of pie in your pie zone, run (or walk, or jog) a lap. Eat one slice of pie, run a lap. Eat one slice of pie, run a lap. Eat your last slice of pie, run a lap. Timer stops.

During that time, we hope for some good laughs and conversation. And, hopefully no one loses their pie....!!!

5. This is meant to be a fun event, but if you want to be competitive, that is ok. At 12:50, the winner will get a pie in the face. The pie mile participants will pick who gets to throw the pie at the lucky winner.

6. Social distancing is required at this event. Please spread out. Not everyone needs to have their starting point on the track in the same spot. Please utilize all lanes of the track to maintain proper social distancing. If you prefer not to attend in person, we encourage you to participate in this challenge in the comfort of your own home by setting up a pie zone and a ¼ route, or on your treadmill.
